cnc machine

I’ve been a bit busy lately and haven’t posted in a while, but I have been working on a few things. I started putting together a small cnc machine out of some scrap mdf and some chinese hardware.

I’m not working from any plans or anything. I’m just winging it, which is probably a bad idea, but we will see how it turns out. I’m still waiting on a few parts to get it completely set up, but here is the progress so far.

These are the materials I started with. There are some steppers and some linear rails and screws for movement, a cheap cnc shield and some random screws and mounting hardware from the junk box.

Here is the x axis.

Next was the y axis and the rest of the frame.

I’ve got some limit switches coming in and when they arrive, I will wire up everything and do a test run. I’ll mostly be using this to mill pcbs, but I may try to mill out a few small parts here and there.
